Two-time NAIA national champ Adekoye transfers to Iowa State

Iowa State women's wrestling has added another proven collegiate champion, securing a commitment from two-time NAIA national champion Jumoke Adekoye of Dickinson State.

Adekoye captured NAIA national titles at 131 pounds in both 2025 and 2026, finishing her career at Dickinson State with a 50-5 record. She also claimed the 2026 Heart of America Conference championship and represented Nigeria on the 2025 Senior World Team. Her second national title this past season helped Dickinson State place 16th at the 2026 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships.

Adekoye joins one of the most impressive rosters being assembled in women's college wrestling under head coach Alli St. John. Iowa State has now landed three two-time NAIA national champions -- Adekoye joining Esther Kolawole (William Penn, 138 pounds, 2024-25) and Christianah Ogunsanya (William Penn, 117 pounds). The Cyclones have also added NAIA national champion Piper Fowler from William Penn, Campbellsville transfer Makennah Craft, Oklahoma State transfer Daniella Nugent -- a fifth-place finisher at the U20 World Championships — McKendree transfer Persaeus Gomez, four-time Iowa state champion Molly Allen, three-time Illinois state champion Gabriella Gomez, Iowa native Greta Brus and Arizona standout Brooklyn Perez.

Kolawole, who represented Nigeria at the 2024 Paris Olympics and owns two U23 World bronze medals, was named The Open Mat's 2025 NAIA Women's Wrestler of the Year. With Adekoye now joining her in Ames, Iowa State has assembled a roster with championship experience and world-level credentials across multiple weight classes as the Cyclones build toward NCAA competition in 2027-28.
