Mission College names Kirk head coach for inaugural wrestling season
Mission College has named Dustin Kirk as head coach of its inaugural wrestling program, the school announced. Kirk will lead both the men's and women's programs when they begin competing in the 2026-27 season.
Kirk comes to Mission after four seasons as head of the women's wrestling program at Cerritos College, where he guided the Monarchs to four straight 3C2A championships. A former 3C2A state champion himself, Kirk won the title at 133 pounds in his sophomore season at Cerritos with a 36-1 record after placing third at 125 pounds as a freshman. He went on to compete at King University in Bristol, Tennessee, where he and teammate Bryce Killian became the first two-time All-Americans in program history.
Kirk takes over a program being built from scratch, with just two months to assemble a roster before the season begins. Despite the timeline, he has already reached out to coaches within a 45-mile radius and is targeting individual success in the program's first season while laying the foundation for long-term competitiveness in the 3C2A.
Mission College begins its first season of men's and women's wrestling in the 2026-27 academic year.
