Utah Valley signs twin transfers Marcus, Moses Espinoza-Owens from SDSU
Utah Valley has signed twin transfers Marcus and Moses Espinoza-Owens from South Dakota State, head coach Adam Hall announced. The move marks the brothers' return to Utah, where they each won three state titles at Viewmont High School before spending three seasons in Brookings.
Marcus has compiled 50 wins over his first three collegiate seasons. In 2025-26, he went 15-12 at 165 pounds for the Jackrabbits, including a 6-5 record in duals, with 10 bonus-point victories. He placed sixth at both the Big 12 Championships and the Cliff Keen Invitational. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Marcus also earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors this past season.
Moses earned an NCAA qualifier berth in 2025-26 in his first season as a starter at 174 pounds. He went 2-2 at the NCAA Championships after placing fifth at the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa and finished the season 29-10 overall and 15-2 in duals, wrestling every possible match for the Jackrabbits. He also placed fourth at the Cliff Keen Invitational and third at the Tiger Style Invitational and has accumulated 56 wins in his collegiate career.
Both brothers notched close wins by decision when South Dakota State visited Orem last January, with the No. 10-ranked Jackrabbits edging Utah Valley 19-16 at Lockhart Arena.
