Iowa State women's wrestling has signed Chloe Sanders of Vinton-Shellsburg High School in Iowa, head coach Alli St. John announced. Sanders is the Cyclones' fourth high school signee of the summer and brings the roster to 17 athletes -- 13 via the transfer portal and four from the high school ranks.

Sanders arrives in Ames as the winningest female wrestler in Iowa high school history, compiling a 219-12 prep record with 168 pins. She capped her career with a perfect 58-0 senior season and won the 135-pound state title in Class 1A in February 2026, becoming the first Vinton-Shellsburg girl to win a state championship. A four-time state placer, four-time WaMaC Conference champion and two-time WaMaC Wrestler of the Year, Sanders was named the 2026 Dan Gable 1A Ms. Wrestler of the Year following her undefeated senior season. She earned All-America honors in Fargo this summer with a seventh-place finish at 145 pounds.

The Cyclones have assembled one of the most impressive rosters in women's college wrestling heading into their first NCAA season in 2027-28. The transfer portal additions include two-time NAIA national champions Jumoke Adekoye, Christianah Ogunsanya and Esther Kolawole, NAIA national champions Piper Fowler, NAIA national finalist Anaya Falcon, NAIA All-American Makennah Craft, Oklahoma State transfers Daniella Nugent, Molly Allen and Kailey Benson, McKendree transfers Gabriella Gomez and Persaeus Gomez and William Penn transfers Tatiana Paragas and Avy Perez. The four high school signees are Sanders, Brooklyn Perez, Greta Brus and Alezandra Robles.
