Campbellsville has tabbed Nicole Tyson to lead its women's wrestling program, bringing more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience and a resume built on national championship success as both athlete and coach.

Tyson isn't new to Campbellsville, having served as an assistant coach for the Tigers from 2017-19 before returning now to take the top job.

Her coaching career began at Missouri Baptist as a graduate assistant from December 2012 to June 2013, where she helped guide six All-Americans while the Spartans climbed as high as seventh at the WCWA championship. She moved to King University as an assistant from 2013-15, coaching four individual WCWA national champions, two national runners-up and 14 All-Americans as the Tornado won their first national title in 2013 and the NWCA National Duals championship in 2014.

Tyson then took over at her alma mater, Oklahoma City University, running the program for five seasons from 2019-24 before staying on as a volunteer assistant in 2024. She also directed and coached the Oklahoma Women's Regional Training Center for USA Wrestling from 2024-25.

As a competitor at Oklahoma City, Tyson was a four-time All-American, three-time WCWA national finalist and 2011 WCWA national champion, compiling a 70-16 record and helping the Stars to three straight national titles from 2009-11. She made the Senior Pan American Team in 2011, reached the Senior National finals, qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials, and later placed fourth at both the 2015 Senior National Championships and 2016 Olympic Trials.

Beyond the room, Tyson has served as Global Campaign Coordinator for Wrestling for Peace since 2024, worked with cultural exchange programs through the U.S. Department of State, and coached at the U17, U20, U23 and Senior National level for USA Wrestling since 2019. Her committee work spans the NAIA Women's Wrestling Coaches Association, the USAOA Ethics Committee, the Sooner Athletic Conference and OKUSA Wrestling, including stints as NAIA-WWCA Executive Committee secretary and second vice president.

She holds a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University's Petree College of Arts and Sciences, earned in 2011, and a Master of Management and Leadership from Campbellsville in 2019.

Tyson now takes over a Campbellsville program with an established tradition in women's wrestling, tasked with carrying it into its next chapter.
