Iowa State has added another nationally accomplished recruit to its growing women's wrestling program.

Violette Lasure, a three-time Pennsylvania state champion and past Fargo champion from Chestnut Ridge High School, has committed to the Cyclones. A member of the Class of 2027, Lasure will arrive in Ames in time for Iowa State's inaugural season of competition in 2027-28.

Lasure enters her senior season with a perfect 104-0 career record and 95 pins. She went 39-0 as a junior and won her third consecutive PIAA state championship, capturing the 155-pound title with a pin. She surpassed 100 career wins as a junior.

Lasure has been a fixture near the top of the national rankings since bursting onto the scene as a 15-year-old freshman, when she reeled off a Fargo-record nine straight falls in a single tournament. She climbed to No. 1 nationally at 145 pounds by her sophomore year and enters her senior season ranked as one of the nation's top pound-for-pound wrestlers.

Her resume extends well beyond Pennsylvania. Lasure won a Junior Nationals title in Fargo in 2025 and represented the United States at the U17 World Championships that summer, also capturing a U17 Pan American title at 65 kilograms -- building on a U15 Pan American gold she won as a freshman without surrendering a point. During the 2025-26 season, she became one of the inaugural winners of the NWCA Girls Triple Crown, sweeping the Women of Ironman, Beast of the East and PowerAde.

She returned to Fargo this summer and placed third at 145 pounds, her only loss coming in the semifinals against eventual champion Nora Akpan. Lasure responded by pinning Iowa State wrestler Greta Brus in the third-place match, having also beaten Brus 4-2 in the quarterfinals.

Lasure joins U17 world silver medalist and three-time Texas state champion Landri Von Gonten, U17 world bronze medalist Ella Poalillo and Bella Miller as 2027 commits already in the fold for head coach Alli St. John. Von Gonten reached the U17 World finals at 61 kilograms this summer after a 42-1 junior season and her third straight Texas UIL title, with additional wins at Fargo, Who's Number One, Super 32 and the Brian Keck Preseason Nationals.

Those recruits will eventually join a roster already stocked with experienced talent, including U17 world champion Piper Fowler, NAIA national champions Christianah Ogunsanya, Esther Kolawole and Jumoke Adekoye, NAIA national finalist Anaya Falcon, four-time Iowa state champion Molly Allen, three-time Illinois state champion Gabriella Gomez and Oklahoma State transfer Daniella Nugent.

Iowa State will begin NCAA competition in 2027-28, giving St. John time to build before the Cyclones take the mat. With Lasure joining Von Gonten, Poalillo and Miller, Iowa State's first full recruiting class is already shaping up as one of the strongest in the country.
