Iowa women's wrestling has landed one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2027.

Eve Skrocki announced Sunday on social media that she has committed to Iowa, one week after taking an official visit to Iowa City. The Dubuque, Iowa, native, who now attends Valiant College Preparatory in Phoenix, is ranked among the top wrestlers nationally at 145 pounds and was named Iowa/USA Wrestling's 16U Women's Wrestler of the Year.

"I'm excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Iowa," she wrote. "I want to thank my family, coaches, and teammates who have helped me get to where I am today! I couldn't have done it without you guys. I also want to thank the coaches at Iowa for always supporting me! Last of all I want to thank God for guiding me through this journey!"

Skrocki's commitment is as much a story of resilience as it is recruiting. During the 2024 Iowa state tournament, she tore a UCL in her elbow and was forced to medically forfeit a match. She underwent surgery at the University of Iowa Health Care and returned to competition approximately six months later, going on to win the Class 1A state championship at 145 pounds in 2025 for Wahlert Catholic in Dubuque.

Her stock has continued to rise nationally since then. Skrocki won the 16U title at the 2025 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, completing USA Wrestling's Triple Crown after also winning the 16U Folkstyle Nationals and Girls High School Recruiting Showcase. She earned a spot on the U.S. U17 World Team at 65 kilograms in 2026 and represented the United States at the U17 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. She also captured the U17 Pan American title in April, going 3-0 at 65 kilograms in Panama City, including a 9-8 gold medal match victory over Yolayni Rosado Valerio of the Dominican Republic.

Skrocki had already developed familiarity with the Iowa program before her official visit, having trained in Iowa City during RTC practices this summer. Her commitment keeps one of the state's premier young wrestlers at home and gives the Hawkeyes another highly accomplished middleweight prospect in a program building toward an NCAA team championship.
