Mount Union names Ceja head women's wrestling coach
Mount Union has named Sugey Ceja as head women's wrestling coach, the school announced. Ceja brings more than four years of collegiate coaching experience to a Purple Raiders program entering its third season of women's wrestling in 2026-27.
Ceja comes to Mount Union after serving as an assistant women's wrestling coach at Tiffin University since June 2024, where she helped coach six national qualifiers and 12 Scholar All-Americans. Tiffin placed 18th in the NWCA Team Scholar All-America standings and achieved multiple top-15 national rankings during her tenure. Before Tiffin, Ceja spent two seasons as an assistant at Lourdes University from 2022-24, helping coach a national champion, two All-Americans, three national qualifiers and seven Scholar All-Americans.
Ceja also serves as a coach with the Ohio Women's National Team, preparing wrestlers for USA Wrestling national events including the national duals and the national championships in Fargo.
As a competitor at Tiffin, Ceja was a two-time collegiate national finalist in 2020 and 2021, a three-time All-American and a third-place finisher at the 2020 WCWA national championships. She also earned USA Wrestling U23 All-America honors. A team captain and three-time NWCA Scholar All-American, Ceja earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Tiffin in 2022 and is pursuing a master's degree in business administration with an anticipated completion date of December 2026. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
