Harty steps down as Greensboro head wrestling coach
Justin Harty has stepped down as head coach of Greensboro College's men's and women's wrestling programs, effective immediately, after five seasons leading both programs.
During Harty's tenure, the Pride saw substantial growth on both sides. Josh Wilson won a national championship in 2023-24 on the men's side, while multiple other wrestlers earned all-conference recognition and NCAA Regionals appearances. On the women's side, Destiny Vaughans became the program's first female All-American in 2024-25. Hailie Misplay and Kyra Tomlinson have both been nationally ranked, with Tomlinson earning a trip to the NCWWC Nationals in 2024-25 and the NCAA Regionals in 2025-26. Six Greensboro wrestlers total made the NCAA Regionals in 2025-26.
Assistant coaches Jon Woodburn and Mitch Johnson will lead both programs for the 2026-27 season. The men open Nov. 4 at Lynchburg and the women compete in the UMO Open on Nov. 7.
