Kent State adds Louive as program's first assistant women's coach

Kent State women's wrestling has hired Lauren Louive as assistant coach, head coach Clay Wenger announced Monday. Louive becomes the first assistant coach in program history.

Louive brings more than 20 years of experience as a competitor and coach in women's wrestling. Most recently, she served as an assistant at Division III Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, contributing to the program's early development. Before that, she led the women's program and assisted the men's program at the Askren Wrestling Academy in Wisconsin.

As a competitor, Louive was a four-time WCWA All-American at the University of the Cumberlands and became the first female wrestler to compete for the Hawkeye Wrestling Club from 2015-19. She is a three-time U.S. Olympic Trials competitor, appearing in 2016, 2020 and reaching the finals at the 2024 Paris Olympic Team Trials. Internationally, Louive won the 2020 U.S. Open and Senior National Championship, claimed the Klippan Lady Open title in Sweden in 2020, won the Dave Schultz Memorial International Open in 2017 and earned a bronze medal at the 2020 Pan American Championships and a silver medal in 2012.

A Massillon, Ohio, native, Louive earned a triple major in biology, exercise science and sport science, and public health from the University of the Cumberlands in 2013 before returning to earn a master's degree in teaching from Cumberlands in 2015. She began her role with the Flashes on Monday.
